# Partnering with Augure: two Canadian-trained models, served only in Canada

![CARouter and Augure: AI, truly owned and served in Canada. Rosedale One and Tofino 3 are live under an enforced data privacy agreement: zero data retention, no foreign failover, X-CARouter-Region on every response.](https://carouter.ai/blog/augure-partnership/illustration.png)

Today we are announcing a partnership with Augure, a Toronto-based AI company. Rosedale One and Tofino 3 are live on the gateway.

The share card carries three chips. Each one is backed by a signed agreement. Here is what they mean in practice.

## The short version

- **Who.** Augure is Canadian-owned, headquartered in Toronto, with no foreign parent anywhere in the chain. It post-trains its own models from open-source bases and serves them on GPUs in Canada.
- **What.** Rosedale One is the reasoning tier: a million tokens of context, with a thinking phase. Tofino 3 is the light tier: fast, no thinking, 256K of context. Both take tools, structured JSON and images. We measured that ourselves.
- **Where.** Canada, by contract. A request is served on infrastructure in Canada or refused. Never failed over, mirrored or burst abroad.
- **Retention.** Prompts and completions are gone once the request is served. Metadata, with no content in it, is kept at most thirty days. We publish those as two separate claims.
- **Proof.** Every response carries X-CARouter-Region. For these two models the value is read from what Augure reports for that request, not from a label we wrote down once.

## Served in Canada, or refused

Augure commits that requests routed through CARouter to these two models run only on infrastructure in Canada. When Canadian capacity runs out, Augure returns an error rather than serving the request elsewhere. A request that quietly leaves the country is the one outcome neither of us accepts, because we have already told the caller it would not.

Our side is the same promise. CARouter never fails over across a border unless the API key has explicitly allowed it. When Augure is full, the caller gets a provider_at_capacity error and a Retry-After header. A less careful gateway would quietly serve another model from another country. We would rather explain an error than a substitution.

## Where the region header comes from

Augure's API reports, on every response, where the model actually ran. We read that value for each request and publish it in X-CARouter-Region. Measured from our own credential, both models report Waterloo, Ontario.

So the residency claim is verified on every request, not taken on trust. A value we cannot place resolves to UNVERIFIED, never to the provider's claim.

Streaming writes the header before Augure has said anything. So the corrected value goes out as a trailing carouter.region frame, and into the request log beside the row.

## Zero retention, in writing

Augure's security page already said zero retention. What the agreement adds is a commitment that cannot change without notice: prompt and completion content is not kept once a request is served, and none of it is used to train, fine-tune or evaluate any model. Request metadata, with no content in it, is kept at most thirty days, and we publish that as its own claim.

## Using it

Augure is off by default in every workspace, and no deploy will switch it on for you. Enabling it in Settings is your acceptance of Augure's own terms. A switch already on would be an acceptance nobody gave.

Once it is on, both models answer at the usual endpoint:

```
curl https://carouter.ai/v1/chat/completions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CAROUTER_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"model": "tofino-3", "messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "Bonjour"}]}' \
  -i | grep -i x-carouter-region
```

Prices are base rates plus your plan's markup, like every other row. [The documentation lists both models with their current rates.](https://carouter.ai/docs)

## What comes next

More models will come as Augure pins them to Canada. Each one is published only once Augure has confirmed in writing that it is served in Canada, with no failover abroad. A model cannot reach the gateway without that guarantee attached. That is the point of the partnership.
