CARouter is in Denvr AI Ascend: cloud credits for benchmarks on Canadian hardware

CARouter is in Denvr AI Ascend, the startup program of a Canadian-owned cloud running its own GPUs in Calgary. The credits buy measurements on datacenter hardware, and those measurements feed the router. Denvr sells GPU hours and no inference endpoint, so nothing changes on the gateway.

CARouter has been accepted into Denvr AI Ascend, the startup program of Denvr Dataworks.

Denvr is a sovereign cloud provider from Alberta: Canadian-owned, running its own GPU clusters in Calgary. That is the bar we hold every provider on the gateway to, so the fit is a natural one.

What Denvr is

Denvr passes both questions we ask of a provider: who owns the company, and where the compute sits.

Denvr told us in August what they sell: GPUs by the hour, no inference API. Hosted endpoints are not on their roadmap this year, so Denvr is not among the providers our documentation page lists.

This announcement changes none of it. No request through the gateway runs on Denvr. A startup program is not a partnership agreement. It is credits, and credits buy hours on machines.

What the hours are for

Everything on this blog so far was measured on one desktop box, the DGX Spark-class machine behind CARouter Cloud. It says a lot about small models on unified memory. It says nothing about the H100-class servers Canadian providers actually run.

So the credits go to measurement. Three things:

  • Open-weight models on Canadian hardware. The same throughput probe, paired coding evaluation and long-context grid we run on the Spark, on datacenter GPUs in Calgary.
  • Numbers the router can use. Today the candidate order is residency, then priority, then price. It knows nothing about how an offer behaves under load. Measured latency and throughput per model is what turns that policy into an informed one.
  • Published here, with the mistakes. Each run becomes an article: the protocol, the charts rendered from the same numbers, the caveats. A measurement nobody can reproduce is a marketing claim.

What we are not promising

There is one path by which Denvr hardware could serve customer traffic: CARouter Cloud running its own serving stack on GPUs rented in Calgary. Canadian-owned hardware, a Canadian datacenter, operated by us. Every claim the gateway makes would hold.

Our capacity research already treats a reserved Denvr node as the fallback if the hardware we intend to buy does not work out. That is a possibility, noted for completeness. It is not a plan, and this program does not fund it. Denvr stays off the documentation page until something real changes.

Thank you to the Denvr team for the welcome. The documentation lists every provider on the gateway with the claim each one makes today.
